Where is the castle?

Lunar Castle, also known as Moon Castle or the Kingdom of the Moon, is a large entertainment complex located in Ba Na Hills, Da Nang. Sitting at around 1,400 meters above sea level, it enjoys cooler, fresher air than the city below. Positioned opposite the Kingdom of the Sun, the Castle is recognized as the largest single construction in Ba Na – a title that becomes immediately believable the moment it comes into view.

Getting there

I usually reach Lunar Castle in one of these ways:

  • Cable car:
The shortest cable car route starts from Bordeaux Station near the Golden Bridge. After landing, I go toward Eclipse Plaza and continue on foot or by escalator.
  • Lava Train (Funicular 2):
The Lava Train connects the Kingdom of Sun and the Kingdom of Moon.

    • From the French Village, I board at Gieng Than (Holy Well) Station
    • From the Castle, I exit at Hang Rong (Dragon Den) Station
This ride is free and takes about five minutes.

This connection is a good example of how Lava Train connects two kingdoms, making walking optional.

What Can You See and Do Inside Lunar Castle?

What Can You See and Do Inside Lunar Castle

Eclipse Plaza

Eclipse Plaza lies between two kingdoms, the Kingdom of Sun and the Kingdom of Moon. Opened in 2022, this space covers around 60,000 square meters.

The glass dome reminds me of the Louvre pyramid in Paris, while the overall shape looks like a Vietnamese conical hat. Below the plaza is the Four Seasons buffet restaurant, which is a convenient lunch stop after exploring.

Atlas Statue

The Atlas Statue represents Atlas God from Greek mythology. It shows Atlas carrying the mountain on his shoulders. Nearby sculptures tell a love story, which adds emotion to the space.

This area is one of my favorite photo spots. The statue stands before Lunar Castle, and the scale feels dramatic but not overwhelming.

Moon Junction Theatre

The Moon Junction Theatre shows 4D films and is located on Level 2.

  • Operating time: 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Film duration: 10 minutes
  • Capacity: 331 seats

I like this theatre because it is spacious and suitable for families. Adults and children above 1.3 meters can enter alone, while younger children must go with parents.

Flying Eyes Theatre

The Theatre offers a 4D experience on Level 3.

  • Operating time: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Capacity: 20 seats

This one feels more intense and immersive. It is smaller, so I usually expect a short wait. Still, the experience feels personal and fun.

Both theatres are free, which is something I really like and often mention to friends.

Planning Your Visit: Ticket Prices, Hours, and Timing

Planning Your Visit Ticket Prices, Hours, and Timing

Your Ba Na Hills entrance ticket already includes access to the Moon Castle, so there’s no extra fee to enter. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Ticket Price (2026): 1,000,000 VND for adults above 1.4 meters.
  • Children: Under 1 meter go for free.
  • Opening Hours: 8 AM to 5 PM daily.

From my experience, it’s best to arrive early. After lunch, the theaters inside the castle tend to get more crowded, and waiting times can be longer. You can visit at any time of day, but if you want clear photos at Eclipse Plaza, morning light is ideal.

I usually spend about 30 to 60 minutes exploring the castle itself. If you plan to watch the shows or 4D films, make sure to allow extra time so you don’t feel rushed.

Is Lunar Castle Suitable for Families and Children?

Yes, Moon Castle is family-friendly, and it’s common to see parents visiting with children and grandparents. Height rules apply for 4D theaters, but the walking paths are wide and safe, with plenty of seating areas along the way. The castle strikes a nice balance between entertainment and comfort—fun without being extreme or tiring.

When Is the Best Time to Visit Lunar Castle?

In my opinion, anytime during the day works well. Still, I personally prefer late morning or early afternoon because:

  • Natural lighting is brighter and more balanced, making it easier to take clear, beautiful photos
  • Theatre performances run more regularly during this time, giving you more chances to catch a show
  • It fits smoothly into an itinerary that includes the Golden Bridge and the French Village without feeling rushed

Season does not change access, but weather may affect walking comfort.

Tips for Visiting Lunar Castle at Ba Na Hills

Here are some tips I personally follow:

  • Sun Protection: In the dry season (February to August), bring sun cream and sun glasses.
  • Rain Gear: From September to January, a rain poncho is a must. The clouds can move in fast at 1,400 meters altitude.
  • Comfort: There is no dress code regulation, but wear comfortable shoes.
  • Navigation: While you can explore on your own, a local guide can help you navigate the crowds and explain the hidden myths of the Atlas Statue.

Moon Castle is also one of the most Instagrammable spots in Ba Na, so I usually keep my camera ready.
